About Us

About Us

The 131940 traffic and travel information website is owned and operated by the Queensland Government through the Department of Transport and Main Roads.Gold Coast

It aims to provide Queensland road users with a real-time view of activities occurring on major state roads, allowing travellers to make informed travel decisions.

History

The 131940 traffic and travel information website was first developed in 2001 to provide traffic information associated with the Gold Coast Indy Carnival. During the carnival, the website provided relevant information on road closures, detours and incidents, allowing road users to easily navigate around the event.

Over time the website has grown, along with the need for reliable and timely traffic and travel information. Today the website covers a range of areas across the state, providing traffic and travel information as well as live web camera images.

Future direction

The 131940 traffic and travel information website is undergoing redevelopment. The redevelopment will be undertaken in a phased approach, with road closures due to wet weather and flooding now deployed.

Future phases of the redevelopment will look at expanding the service to other government agencies. This will allow the website to report on a wider range of road and areas across Queensland with assistance from local government and other state government agencies.
