New legislation relating to road closure signs on state-controlled roads
Wet weather and flooding can cause the closure of some of the state's roads.
For safety reasons, people should not drive on roads covered by water and should obey any road restriction signage. Failure to do so could result in a fine.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads has developed new Restricted Road Use Notices (signs) to make sure the safety message is clear at the site of the road closure or restriction.
Apart from notifying the public of the danger, the restrictions will also help roads from sustaining further damage.
