Flooding and Wet Weather

Transport and Main Roads (TMR) provides updates on road conditions throughout the year, including the wet season, which is also commonly referred to as 'The Wet' between the months of November to April and during any major flood incident occurring across Queensland.

During the wet season, areas throughout Queensland can experience heavy rainfall, which can result in flooding and/or land slips, also roads can be affected by being cut off or washed away. This can cause the isolation of communities, industries and travellers.

Road closures, load restrictions and traffic management are some of the ways Transport and Main Roads (TMR) can manage road users and road assets.

The following information is also available:

The 131940 website provides information to assist with general travel throughout Queensland. These things include:

  • State Highways and Motorways Report which provides a summary of access status for major roads across Queensland and is updated hourly

  • Queensland Flood Maps which provide a visual presentation of road closures currently affecting the road network at an individual region level and are updated on the first business day of each week

  • An Interactive Map which displays closures and limits on Queensland roads with coloured lines, as well as Road Works, Special Events and Incidents.
