Works to repair various sections of the Gulf Development Road damaged by cyclone and flooding events in 2010/11 will be carried out between 6am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is reconstructing sections of the Gulf Developmental Road, Georgetown to Mt Surprise.
There are multiple sections of this link that are currently unsealed including the Newcastle Range.
TMR would like to remind motorists to take extra care on the unsealed sections, particularly during wet weather, and drive to the conditions and obey all road signage.

One lane blocked. Medium delays expected. Allow extra travel time. Expected completion is end October 2013.
Work will continue 24 hours, Sunday 6:00am to Friday 3:00pm, until the end of October 2013, weather permitting.
Reduced speed limits will be in place along with single lane closures and manually operated traffic lights.
Motorists can expect delays of up to 15 minutes during the works.
Motorists are urged to obey changed traffic conditions and allow additional travel time while these important repairs are carried out.
