    The Department of Transport and Main Roads is constructing the northern structure of the overpass on Beaudesert Rd. Work is scheduled to be completed mid 2010, weather permitting. Ongoing road work, drainage work and signalisation will be carried out in the vicinity of the intersection as work progresses.     Asphalting works - Night works / Lane closures
    Asphalting works along sections of University Drive will commence on Sunday 8 November and continue for approximately four weeks, weather permitting. Works will be undertaken overnight between 7:00pm and 5:00am, excluding Saturday nights. Traffic along University Drive will be reduced to one lane during the works and for the safety of motorists and workers, speed restrictions and traffic control measures will be in place. Wherever possible, traffic conditions will revert to normal during daylight hours, with some minor preparation works occurring during these times. The night works will include the use of heavy equipment and some noise may occur; Main Roads apologises for any inconvenience and disruption this may cause residents.

    Roadworks have commenced around the Tree of Knowledge memorial on the Capricorn Highway. All eastbound traffic will be diverted via the current heavy vehicle detour through the railway reserve.

    Scenic Rim -Beenleigh Connection Road (Boundary Street), Beenleigh
    Work is underway on the upgrade of Beenleigh Connection Road, Beenleigh, replacing low level culverts with a new higher concrete bridge.
    • All traffic has now been diverted onto the newly constructed side-track to allow bridge construction to continue.
    • Work is being carried out Monday to Saturday, between 7.00am and 5.00pm.
    • Speed limit has been reduced to 40 km/h through the work site.
    • Pedestrian crossings have been relocated; drive carefully and be aware of students/residents crossing the road.
    • Follow directions given by traffic controllers and/or variable message boards.
    • Work is expected to be completed mid 2010, weather permitting.

    • Work is being carried out Monday to Saturday, between 7.00am and 5.00pm.

    Intersection improvement works are commencing at the Warrego Highway and Brisbane Valley Highway interchange at Blacksoil. The right-turn lane westbound from Warrego Highway onto Brisbane Valley Highway will be extended by 200 metres.     Townsville to Bowen – Road repair and restoration works
    Roadworks to repair and restore sections of the Bruce Highway between Townsville and Bowen that were
    damaged by monsoonal rain and flooding earlier this year will commence on Monday 9 November. Works
    will take place between 6.00am and 6.00pm. Traffic lights, traffic controllers, single lane closures and
    speed restrictions will be used as required to manage traffic through the roadwork sites. Motorists travelling between Townsville and Bowen should expect minor delays and be aware of changed traffic conditions.

    CORONATION DRIVE

    Major traffic changes will affect Coronation Drive between Cribb Street and Merivale Rail Bridge for maximum four month period from Sunday 1 November 2009. These major changes, in the area of the Go Between Bridge (formerly Hale Street Link), are essential to complete construction of the Coronation Drive overpass.

    Traffic changes effective Sunday 1 November 2009 are:

    • Outbound – Coronation Drive: traffic travelling through to Coronation Drive (towards Toowong) from the Riverside Expressway will now use lanes on the right-hand or northern side of Boomerang Street overpass. Lanes previously used will be diverted for overpass construction.
    • Outbound – Boomerang Street overpass: traffic taking the Boomerang Street (northern suburbs) overpass from Riverside Expressway towards Inner City Bypass, will now need to be in the left-hand or riverside lane to access the overpass.
    • Inbound – Coronation Drive: traffic will be reduced to two lanes between Cribb Street and the Merivale Rail Bridge.

    Traffic changes will result in increased travel times on Coronation Drive (inbound), Milton Road (inbound), Hale Street (inbound), Riverside Expressway (inbound/westbound) and the surrounding road network.

    Motorists are advised to:

    Follow the signs
    • Motorists are advise to slow down, follow signage, and take care when driving through the changed conditions.
    Allow more time and consider alternatives.
    • Significant peak hour delays will exist on Coronation Drive with day and night works required up to 7 days per week.
    • Motorists are advised to allow more time for their journeys if travelling through the project between these dates.
    • Motorists are advised to consider alternative routes and methods of travel.

    The Department of Transport and Main Roads will be conducting scheduled routine maintenance work along the Riverside Expressway until June 2012. Work will be carried out between 8.00pm and 5.00am mid week as required. Regular lane closures, traffic delays and detours are expected.     The two right turn lanes from Hale Street to Coronation Drive have been closed. They will be closed until completion of the Go Between Bridge (formerly the Hale St Link Bridge) in mid-2010.     Brisbane City Council has commenced construction of the upgrade of the culvert under Rafting Ground Road at Brookfield (near Willunga Street) to improve the road's immunity to flooding and increase safety for all road users. The road will be closed to vehicles on Monday 16 November for approximately four months, weather and construction conditions permitting. Motorists will need to use alternative routes such as Moggill and Brookfield Roads. Barricaded access through the construction site for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders will be available at all times.     Roadworks will be occurring overnight from Sunday 22 November to Thursday 26 November, weather permitting. These works are being carried out at night to minimise impacts on local traffic and businesses. Access to the following local streets and properties will be disrupted intermittently for short periods on 22 November after 1pm, and from 23 to 25 November after 10pm:

    Construction of a new link road, which will connect the northbound off-ramp to Abraham Road, just south of the BP service centre is underway. A new signalised intersection will be installed where the link road meets Abraham Road.
    • A slip lane is being constructed on Abraham Road to avoid the Days Road roundabout.
    • Earthworks are underway, adjacent to Abraham Road and near the Days Road roundabout, for construction of the slip lane into Days Road.
    • Work is also underway for construction of the link road, south of the BP service centre.
    Working hours
    Work hours during the construction phase will be Monday to Saturday from 7am to 5pm.

    A new permanent exit ramp has opened for motorists travelling from the Centenary Highway southbound to the Ipswich Motorway westbound (towards Ipswich or Toowoomba). Motorists taking the Ipswich/Toowoomba exit from the Centenary Highway southbound now need to move to the right-hand lane when approaching the Centenary Highway Interchange to access the new ramp.     Main Roads is extending the existing Pacific Motorway Bikeway from Miles Platting Road to the Logan Road Exit 14 from the motorway northbound at Eight Mile Plains. Works commenced on Monday 3 August, 2009 and are expected to be completed by late February 2010. Works will be carried out Monday to Friday from 7am to 5pm. Some night works will be necessary from 8pm to 5am, Monday to Friday. Minor delays can be expected due to lane closures and reduced speed limits through the work site on the Pacific Motorway.     Works are occurring at Hemmings Creek Culvert located under Riverstone road, leading to the Gillies Highway. The road is reduced to one lane with a speed limit of 40km/h through the work site. To avoid delays, local residents are urged to use existing alternative routes. Works are due to be completed by mid November 2009

    Widening and stabilisation works and pavement restoration works are in progress on a number of sections of the Gregory Developmental Road, between Charters Towers and Greenvale. Sections are situated approximately:
    - 6km north of Charters Towers
    - 27km north of Charters Towers
    - 45km north of Charters Towers
    Traffic controllers, traffic lights and speed restrictions will be in place throughout these works areas, with signage in place to guide motorists through the works. Motorists should expect some delays when travelling through the works area.

    The Normanby Bridge section of the Gympie-Brooloo Road is closed to all traffic. From 14/10/09 a detour will be in place where all Bruce Highway traffic will be diverted via the on and off-ramps. This is to allow for the demolition and reconstruction of the Normanby Bridge. Expected completion is mid-December 2009.

    Gold Coast - Hope Island Road duplication, Hope Island

    Construction on the duplication from Cova Boulevard to Boykambil Esplanade is progressing along the entire length of the project.
    • Asphalt resurfacing on Boykambil Bridge will start on Monday 23 November.
    • One lane in each direction will be open to traffic at all times.
    • The northern side of Crescent Avenue at the intersection of Hope Island Road will remain closed
    for about another week while traffic signals are installed.
    • Crescent Avenue motorists and residents can access Hope Island Road using the newly opened service road or by using Boykambil Esplanade.
    Working hours
    Work has been scheduled from 7am until 5pm Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 November and from 9am until 3pm Wednesday 25, Thursday 26 and Friday 27 November.

    BRUCE HIGHWAY

    The construction of overtaking lanes is continuing along the Bruce Highway north of Ingham at Damper Creek and south of Ingham at Easter Creek and Helen’s Hill. Speed restrictions of 60km/hr are in place during the day and at night the speed is 80km/hr. Lane closures will be in place and minor delays are expected. This project is expected to be completed mid November, weather permitting.

    CARNARVON HIGHWAY

    Roadworks for culvert installations are occurring along the Carnarvon Highway between Injune and Rolleston approximately 20kms north of Injune. All traffic is being diverted to a temporary sidetrack during works. A reduced speed limit is in place.

    All rest areas located 20km to 30km North of Injune are closed to the public for the duration of these roadworks.

    A multi-lane school zone trial is being conducted between Our Lady of the Rosary and the Kenmore Roundabout on Moggill Road in Kenmore. The trial is scheduled to commence on 5 October 2009 and will run for at least three months. The speed limit will be reduced from 60km/h to 40km/h, between the hours of 7-9am and 2-4pm, Monday to Friday during school term.

    KOGAN CONDAMINE ROAD

    The Department of Transport and Main Roads will commence replacement of an existing culvert, located 38km west from Kogan, along Kogan-Condamine Road, on Monday 23 November 2009.

    Kogan-Condamine Road will be closed at this location for the safety of all road users from 23 to 25 November 2009 to facilitate the demolition and replacement of the culvert.

    These urgent works involve removing the existing timber culvert and installing a concrete box culvert.

    The work will commence Monday, 23 November 2009 with the road being closed from 3.30am. The road should be re-opened by 25 November 2009, weather permitting.

    Variable Message Signs have been placed at strategic locations to provide advanced notice to motorists about the proposed works and closure of this section of Kogan-Condamine Road.

    In addition, the department will take this opportunity to rehabilitate another culvert, located approximately 39km west from Kogan along Kogan-Condamine Road. It is intended this work will be carried out one lane at a time and we anticipate that one lane will remain open at all times. Traffic control will be in place to minimise traffic delays and keep traffic flowing through the work site.

    Construction of stage 2 will widen the Gold Coast Highway between Robert Street and Broad Street, and should be completed by late 2009.
    • Northbound and southbound traffic between Broad and Central streets will be running in the centre lanes to allow work on footpaths and driveways. Occasional daily switches into outer lanes will occur during the week to allow work in the centre median.
    • Southbound and northbound traffic can now turn right at Whiting Street.
    • Southbound traffic only will be able to turn right at Central Street.
    • Traffic has been switched to the eastern side of the Gold Coast Highway between Robert Street and Central Street until end November 2009.
    • Access to and from Bradford Street will be closed at the Gold Coast Highway to continue with asphalt works.
    • Detour via Central Street or Robert Street.
    • This closure will be in place until late November.
    • From Friday 27 November to Friday 4 December, final layer of asphalt will start. Short delays can be expected during this operation and frequent changes will occur during the week.

    Construction works are continuing on the Abbott Street Deviation. Work to replace culverts under Oonoonba Road commenced Monday 12 October. This essential work requires the temporary closure of Oonoonba Road near the intersection of Abbott Street. Motorists are advised to use an alternative route.
    Motorists are also reminded that River Boulevard is designated ‘Local Traffic Only’ and through
    traffic should avoid using this road. Pedestrians on Oonoonba Road should take care to use the
    designated pedestrian area. Pedestrian and bike access has now been moved from the northern side of

    • Kantenna Street will re-open on to the eastern service road via a roundabout.
    • A new off-ramp exiting the highway approaching Kantenna Street and entering the eastern service road at the Kantenna Street roundabout will also open to motorists.
    • The temporary access to the Mount Lindesay Highway from the eastern link road will be closed.
    • There will continue to be some lane closures in place until all works, including the completion of northbound lanes, are completed.

    Townsville Port Access Road - Traffic Switch
    A traffic switch will occur on the Bruce Highway/Townsville Port Access Road intersection during the week beginning Monday 9 November. Two-way traffic will be switched from the current location on the future outbound lane to the future inbound lane for several days while asphalt and seal works are undertaken. The traffic will then be switched back for several days before reverting to the final two-way configuration once asphalt and seal works are complete. Motorists should be aware of changed traffic conditions at the:
    - Jensen Street/Stuart Drive intersection, and
    - the connector road intersection, 200 to 250 metres north of the railroad overpass Stuart Drive.
    Motorists should also be aware of the heavy vehicle movements along Stuart Drive, the Bruce Highway near the Information Centre and Racecourse Road, Cluden. Motorists should also be aware of heavy vehicle movements near the corner of Boundary Street and Benwell Road, South Townsville. Cyclists shoud note that road shoulders have been narrowed due to construction barriers on the Bruce Highway and Stuart Drive. For the safety of motorists and workers, speed restrictions are in place throughout this project and motorists should take care when travelling through the works.

    • Exit 85 off ramp – The off-ramp and Gemvale Road overpass will be closed this weekend from 8pm Friday night to 5am Monday. Motorway traffic will be directed to exits 82, 85A and 87.
    • Eastbound traffic from Gemvale Road and Old Coach Road will be detoured via Robina over the weekend.
    • Exit 85 – the southbound on-ramp will be closed for several weeks and traffic heading south onto the motorway will detour along Reedy Creek Road and Bermuda Street. The on-ramp should be
    reopened before Christmas.
    • From Monday traffic will drive on the new section of the Exit 85 off-ramp. Traffic controllers will direct motorists through the new intersection until the new traffic lights are commissioned.
    • Scottsdale Drive – On Tuesday and Wednesday the two kerbside lanes will be closed east and west bound for pavement work between the traffic lights at Ambassador Drive and the motorway.
    • Old Coach Road near Woodland Drive – some service relocation work will require traffic controllers and stop/go signs.

    Due to electrical works in progress on CHARTERS TOWERS RD from ACKERS ST to ROSS RIVER ROAD at MYSTERTON from the 16/11/09 until the 05/12/09 from 07:00 - 17:30pm the LEFT LANE, PARKING LANE and SHOULDER will be closed to all traffic. There will be a reduction in speed, signage and traffic control on site.

    Due to the Pearl Jam Concert at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre on Wednesday 25th November 2009, the following road closures will be in place:

    - Kessels Road between Troughton Road and Mains Road closed in both directions; 10:00pm to midnight.
    - Kessels Road between Logan Road and Mains Road closed for westbound traffic; 10:00pm to midnight.
    - Macgregor Street between the South East Freeway and Kessels Road closed for northbound traffic; 5:00pm to midnight.

    Motorists are also advised that there will be localised road closures around the stadium before, during and after the event and that 15 minute parking restrictions apply to the Robertson-Macgregor Traffic Area on event days. It is anticipated that the event will cause moderate to significant traffic congestion and delays in the area surrounding the Stadium and motorists should consider an alternative route.

    The Australia vs West Indies Test cricket match is being held at the Gabba from Thursday 26 November to Monday 30 November from 10.00am. Traffic congestion may be experienced on the Pacific Motorway, Stanley St, Vulture St, and Ipswich Rd from 9.00am on match days. Motorists attending the event should also be aware of the 15 minute parking restriction that applies to the Gabba Traffic Area on match days.

    Brisbane City Council wishes to advise that the Stereosonic Music Event will be held on Sunday 6th December 2009. Lancaster Rd between Charlton St and Vine St and McGill Ave between Kitchener Rd and Lancaster Rd, Ascot will be closed to all traffic between 12 midday and 11:59pm. Minor traffic disruption should be expected.
